Learn the latest on Safety, Quality, and Integrity in Organic Post-Harvest Handling of Fresh and Fresh-Cut Production during this Eco Farm Pre Conference. Post-harvest processed value of California organic commodities now exceeds $2.5 billion in sales declared by over 870 California registrants, according to the California Department of Health Services. However, in response to the rapid growth of the processing sector, the organic industry has not prioritized systematic research and education of registrants in fresh market post-harvest practices and compliance with regulations. In order to assist the organic industry in increasing its knowledge of research-based information and compliance methods, for the first time, industry and research professionals will collaborate on a two-day short course which will provide attendees with updated, state-of-the-art information on industry practices for ensuring fresh commodity post-harvest safety, quality, and integrity of organic production. The program will consist of professional presentations by speakers on course topics and an optional tour of several organic processing facilities in the area. Each attendee will receive a short course binder of all information presented. Who should attend: Attendees should include growers, owner/operators, product managers, quality assurance managers, organic inspectors, certification staff, consultants, and other post-harvest professionals.
